I'm Nate, PS4 gamer and freelance writer from Denver... I like to game, obviously, as well as hike and camp and all of that stereotypical stuff! My favorite game of all time is GTA: San Andreas, but I love playing Diablo 3 with my girlfriend!

If you’re a gamer and you value story over anything else, you’ve probably played Heavy Rain and/or Beyond: Two Souls at some point. If you haven’t, though, you’re in for a treat. Both games were released exclusively for the PS3 last-gen, and they’re now out in a bundle to let you experience them both on the PS4. Both games were developed by Quantic Dream and so both experiences are similar. Each one plays out essentially like a movie that you have control over- depending on how you interact with the environment and how you react to quick time events in…

Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare 2 is exactly what it sounds like. As a player, you take control of one of 14 unique plant or zombie characters (with 110 variants overall) and wreak havoc on the opposite faction through a campaign, horde mode or competitive multiplayer, all amidst a fantastical backyard backdrop. If the premise seems a little weird to you, that’s because it is… but it’s executed incredibly well. The first PvZ:GW was definitely a sleeper hit- but a hit nonetheless, and developer PopCap Games (right?) has pulled out all the stops for the sequel. The game is much…

Unrivaled console graphics… Racing wheel support… Virtual reality… PS4 racing games are the future of console racing, and there are a ton of games coming out that will fulfill that need for speed (and none of them are actually Need for Speed). From the newest iteration in the Gran Turismo franchise to unique concepts like BlazeRush, PS4 gamers will finally have something to play that isn’t Drive Club or NFS, and that is definitely something to be excited about. I picked the 5 best upcoming racing games that any driving fan should be excited about, each of which will be…

The 2015 holiday season is over, which means the hype for games like Fallout 4 and Black Ops 3 has come and gone… but that doesn’t mean that there aren’t a ton of titles being released in the near future that PS4 gamers should be really excited about! 2016 is going to be another great year for the PS4, and there are quite a few games coming out that I simply can not wait for. Here is the top eight, in no particular order. Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End This game is pretty much on every one of my “top”…

When the PS4 first came out, the best games on the console were mostly just remakes or ports of past-gen games (not necessarily a bad thing for me, since I owned a 360 instead of a PS3). Now, though, the time has finally come where the PS4 is starting to get a ton of exclusives, and I couldn’t be happier with my decision to make the switch from Microsoft to Sony. Gears of War is dead and Halo will never be the same, but Uncharted is still going strong, and even games that have been multi-platform in the past are…

The summer gaming drought has technically been over for a month or two, but November is when things are really going to get good for the PS4 in 2015. Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 and Fallout 4 are the big names that’ll be hitting shelves next month, but there are definitely some other fantastic titles that we’ll finally be able to get our hands on come November. This is a list of the best of them, in order of release date. Need for Speed: Nov 3 Need for Speed has had its ups and downs over the past 20…

DLC is a staple in the modern video gaming world, but the amount of really good DLC on the PS4 so far has been pretty low. Of those games that do have good DLC, though, there’s a lot of fun to be had. Here’s a list of a few of them: Destiny “Destiny” is one of those “love it or hate it” games, but for fans of the title who want more action, there are two (soon to be three) expansions to the base game that add more areas, weapons, enemies, abilities, vehicles, a level cap increase, and more. This…

When I got my PS4, it was bundled with a physical copy of “GTA V” and a digital download of “The Last of Us Remastered”. Having played both of these games on last gen consoles, it was still awesome to see how they looked on my shiny new console, and I still play “TLOU” to this day. Unfortunately, the bundle is a little bit harder to find now, but that’s the nature of console bundles- they come and go, and if you don’t grab them when they’re first available, you may not get a chance in the future. But if…

One easy way for developers to bring non-gamers into the gaming world is to make a game easy to understand and control. Console-makers have a hand in this as well (pun definitely intended) when they design their control pads. There are a few important aspects that a controller needs to have in order to make it good, and the PS4’s Dualshock 4 definitely does the job well. Comfort is Key First and foremost, the control pad needs to be comfortable to hold. I have rather large hands, and my girlfriend has very small ones, yet we both find the controller…

For a number of years, soccer video games have proven to be one of the most popular offerings in the sports genre, even in the American market. It seems that the American belief that soccer is boring is quickly becoming the opinion of the minority, as both major soccer franchises- “FIFA” and “PES”- have seen great success. This is nothing new for the rest of the world, of course, but for anyone in America or anyone else who doesn’t have a favorite franchise in the world of soccer video games, which of the two franchises is offering the best game…

Just like with pirates and ninjas, the video game medium is an absolutely perfect place for the mafia to call home. Also just like pirates and ninjas, though, you can’t really count the number of truly good mafia games on one hand. That’s why 2K’s “Mafia 3”, slated for release in 2016, is something to get excited about. If you haven’t really heard a lot about the game, it’s because not a ton of information has been revealed yet. But nevertheless, here’s a list of 8 things you might not know about the newest title in the “Mafia” franchise. It…

When you excitedly tear open the box of your new PS4, you’ll see the sexy, sleek system; the attractive, perfectly-sized controller… and a cheap looking headset. The headset doesn’t get any better once you plug it in, as it basically has the look, feel, and capabilities of the type of cellphone headset a businessman would use in the nineties. Luckily, there are a variety of aftermarket headsets out there that match the look and feel of the PS4, and they have the exciting bonus of giving you a great auditory experience when you play, too. We all have those late…

I’ve spent many sleepless nights playing survival horror games, which is why I’m anxiously awaiting the (ironically titled) “Until Dawn”. Slated for an August 26th release, the title is being devolved by the indie studio Supermassive Games, and it follows a group of characters who, while visiting a remote cabin, are being hunted by a serial killer. Outside of the cliché premise, “Until Dawn” looks like it’s totally revamping the survival horror genre in a very good way. In other words, the game definitely looks like it’s going to be the cause of many more sleepless nights in my future,…
