8 Games that Could be Awesome on Project Morpheus

With Project Morpheus set to release at some point in the first half of 2016, it is about time we start thinking about what games could be on the virtual reality headset, and which of those games might just be awesome.

Fallout 4

The game has yet to be given an official release date, though it will likely be Q4 2015 so it’s a bit of a stretch to consider Project Morpheus support, but how cool would it be if it did?  Imagine walking through the wasteland of Boston and feeling like you were actually there.  Seeing an enemy in the distance only to pause time and pick out what body parts you want to shoot, and then doing so in slow motion.  Watching as that bullet flies to the target and lands a direct hit.  It would be an amazing sight to see and really change the immersiveness of survival games.

Far Cry 5

Far Cry 4 sold over 7 million units and made its publisher, Ubisoft, very happy.  It’s likely they’ll be announcing the next game in the series at E3 this year, with either a release later this year or early next year.  So it’s possible the next run and gun role playing game will have Project Morpheus support, and if it does, the amount of people doing extraordinary jumps and flying away in a wingsuit is going to be even higher than in their previous title.  Because, what good is exploring a beautiful, destructible, world if you can’t do so at tremendous speeds in the air?

Ark: Survival Evolved

This is another survival game on the list, but it’s one that has a lot of potential, not just to be a good game, but to be one you can get lost in with Project Morpheus.  Developed by Studio Wildcard, this game is about surviving a dinosaur inhabited planet.  On top of the typical survival type mechanics, it focuses on building a tribe with other players along with the hunting and taming of a variety of dinosaurs.  So basically, just imagine chasing your friends around on the back of a T-Rex shouting, “I am the king of the dinosaurs!”.  You’ll look crazy to anyone watching you in the real world, but you’ll have a blast doing it.

No Man’s Sky

Not a lot has been revealed of this title, but from what we’ve seen so far, exploring worlds and traveling through space seems like one heck of an experience, and based on the talk that starts whenever this game shows a new trailer it’s something a lot of people are looking forward to.  So, what would make traveling from planet to planet and exploring the surface even more interesting? Doing so with the Morpheus strapped on and feeling like you’re on the planet yourself.  Just don’t forget to name the new sites you discover while you’re walking around boggling at the new world.

Titanfall 2

It’s been made apparent that not only is the sequel to the “Call of Duty killer” is in the works, but it has been stripped free of its Microsoft restrictions.  Now with the option to be on the PS4 could we see it taking advantage of Project Morpheus?  Possibly, though they’re going to need to work on making those jumpsuits be a bit less jumpy when you’re bouncing off walls with your VR headset on.

Dead Island 2

Dead Island 2

The first game’s story may have been a disappointment, but the gameplay was quite fun.  Bashing, slashing, and kicking zombies has been an intriguing gameplay mechanic ever since Left 4 Dead and Dead Island 2’s 2016 release leaves a possibility that the experience may be taken up a notch with the Morpheus.  Just get ready to be wiping away at your eyes as you bash heads open.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance

A game Kickstarted two years ago is looking to be released next year on the PS4.  In this role-playing game you’re not a magical wizard or legendary hero, you’re just the son of a blacksmith.  A son who has lost his family and seeks revenge and redemption.  Featuring advanced sword based combat and an ever evolving story this looks like a promising game.  One which has raised millions of dollars in support and could possibly (though not currently listed) have Project Morpheus support down the road.

Mirror’s Edge: Catalyst

Mirror’s Edge Catalyst

A beautiful parkour game with clever puzzles and stealth based combat, this could be the perfect game for the Morpheus, and help it be accepted by the masses as more than just a mere gimmick.  That is if the team at DICE can find a way to reduce the nausea that comes with running and jumping at high speeds with these VR games.
