Sony Confirm More Powerful PS4 Will Come In the Future

It has been confirmed by Sony that a more powerful PS4 console will release sometime in the future. Unveiled from an interview with the Financial Times, it was confirmed that this new console won’t be announced at this year’s E3 event. What’s more, Sony also made it clear that it would not be a replacement for the current PS4.

This should be taken as good news for PS4 gamers, as Sony are waiting for the right time before unleashing their new beast. With VR technology incoming this October and 4K TVs beginning to fall into the more affordable price range, it only makes sense that Sony would be ready to bring these capabilities to an improved machine, which is currently codenamed as, Neo. We shouldn’t rule out that it might also be slimmer in nature and could even be named the PS4 Slim, but only time will tell here.

Rumours can now be put aside as to whether Sony are actually working on the Neo – they are. Andrew House, the president of Sony, is quoted as saying: “It is intended to sit alongside and complement the standard PS4.” Importantly, he also went on to say: “We will be selling both [versions] through the life cycle. All games will support the standard PS4 and we anticipate all or a very large majority of games will also support the high-end PS4.” In regards to the potential release date, he finally said: “we have a full range of the best experiences on the new system that we can showcase in their entirety”.
