Street Fighter V – An Early Look

Before Mortal Kombat, Street Fighter and its sequels were all the rage with players who loved having the opportunity to fight as different warriors from around the world with a variety of different skills in 2D scrolling action. I remember playing against my friends when I was younger on Street Fighter II: Turbo on the Super Nintendo system. It was fun learning the different moves and capabilities of your favorite characters and fighting to be the top fighter.

Street Fighter V

Street Fighter V is the next game in the Street Fighter series and Capcom plans to release the game for PlayStation 4 and PC, with no release plans for Xbox One. Street Fighter V will have all of the gameplay mechanics that have made the series popular for almost three decades and also introduces the V-Gauge, which powers up when a fighter is attacked. V-Gauge is used to power three new abilities for each character: V-Skills, V-Reversals, and V-Trigger. V-Skills are special skills that are unique to each character. V-Reversals allow players to use a portion of their V-Gauge to power a counter-attack on their opponent in the midst of being attacked. V-Triggers are also unique abilities that are powered by the full V-Gauge.

Capcom announced at this year’s E3 that they would be releasing Street Fighter V online beta, which will be available for PS4 users on July 23, 2015. The beta version will give players an early look at the new gameplay mechanics of SFV, but Capcom has stated that the game is still in development. In fact, the online beta will allow the company to test-drive the game’s online component and fix any bugs that might come up along the way.

Polygon recently reported that Capcom is hosting a panel at this year’s San Diego Comic Con, a panel said to include exclusive tips and tricks for the game long before its release.

Street Fighter V is scheduled to be released in March 2016, but be sure to check out the online beta when it releases July 23.
