Top PS4 Games Due Out Before Next Year (2015)

Typically speaking, it isn’t until a console is at least a year or two old until we see some really dynamite titles released for it. Of course, the PlayStation 4 already has some really great games under its belt, but what’s to come could be considered yet another step up from ordinary. While 2015 looks to be a banner year for Sony, with some really amazing stuff headed our way, let’s not forget about the lead up and late 2014 holiday season. As you are no doubt well aware, it is the late portion of the year when a lot of developers and publishers aim for – the idea being to cash in on those Christmas sales and so forth. This year is shaping up to be no exception too, with lots of great offerings soon up for grabs. Anyway, to get to the point, here are some of the top PS4 games due out before next year (2015), presented in chronological order of release…

Minecraft

minecraft
If you’ve never played Mojang’s amazing blocky game then you truly don’t know what you’re missing. 4J Studio’s amazing “Minecraft” has become in recent years a fully-fledged cultural phenomenon, now it would seem that PS4 owners will soon finally be able to experience what all the fuss is about. Don’t think that it’s going to be a dull port of the PS3 version though, there will be special features (including a world that’s 30+ times bigger, for starters).

Destiny

Destiny ps4
“Destiny” is aptly named, for it would seem that Halo creators Bungie intended all along to create an incredibly intriguing sci-fi shooter that boasts deep gameplay mechanics inside of an MMORPG framework. In truth, that alone should get your blood pumping, but that’s only until you actually see what it looks like (saying that it’s visually spectacular doesn’t do it justice).

FIFA 15

FIFA 15- 01
We all knew another FIFA entry was headed our way, right? While it might not be any sort of surprise to see another EA-released football game (that’s soccer for people in the US), they always manage to add in some new feature to keep us interested, don’t’ they? Expect more of the same from the FIFA folks (which is a good thing in this instance).

Alien: Isolation

Alien Isolation ps4
Intense survival horror atmosphere?…check. Stealth-based gameplay mechanics?…check. A plot that’s actually somewhat intriguing rather than hokey and “played out”?…check. That’s right, rather than being another FPS nightmare, Alien: Isolation is set to bring back survival horror in a classic sense – by making you sneak around rather than fight your way through everything. Truly, this could be the fix that fans of the genre (and film series) have desperately been waiting for.

Driveclub

Driveclub ps4
After a number of setbacks and canceled release dates, Driveclub is finally set to be unleashed and just in time for the holidays no less. The game promises amazing graphics, detailed gameplay and the tools to foment a unified “car culture” community using the PS4 as its platform. Needless to say, if its developers deliver on even half of what they’ve been vigorously touting then this is definitely going to be one of the strongest racing games available for the console.

The Evil Within

The Evil Within ps4
On its surface “The Evil Within” certainly has a lot going for it. For starters, it is being spearheaded by the man behind the Resident Evil series and seems to be seeking a return to classic form of sorts. In other words, it’s filled to the brim with all sorts of terrifying scenes and will dig into your brain like a T-virus carrying leech. Add to that spectacular visuals and a gameplay system which appears to be moving away from any and all notions of action-horror and you have what could very well be one of the top games of the 2014 holiday season.

Grand Theft Auto V

Grand Theft Auto V ps4
Despite Rockstar adamantly confirming that GTA V wouldn’t be coming to the PS4, deep down we all knew that it was just a smokescreen. Clearly they were going to eventually put it on the extremely powerful next generation consoles, why wouldn’t they? Again though, don’t assume that it’s going to be just a standard port, because they’re extending draw distances, adding new features / models, sharpening the graphics and even all the updated content that’s been released for the 7th gen versions thus far. Clearly, if you’re a fan of sandboxes and own a PS4, you absolutely must get this game.

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare

Call of Duty Advanced Warfare ps4
There are plenty of reasons why everyone should be excited about the next Call of Duty game, this one being dubbed “Advanced Warfare”.   For starters, they’ve finally brought futuristic gameplay to the forefront, which is something that fans have been asking for since the series emerged as an online multiplayer frontrunner. Aside from all the stunning new features, graphics, gameplay, multiplayer content and story/campaign, this one will also feature Kevin Spacey, who seems to fall perfectly into his villainous role with ease.

The Crew

The Crew ps4
Whereas a lot of other driving franchises concentrate on delivering pure racing in a contained structure, “The Crew” could very well be one of the most intriguing racing titles to have ever been released. This is actually going to be an open world game, where you can race across a scaled down model of the entire US.   Add to that amazing graphics and you have what could very well be one of the most exciting releases that driving fans have ever gotten their hands on.

Far Cry 4

Far Cry 4

Building upon their successes from the amazing Far Cry 3, FC4 looks to take things to a whole new level both in terms of visuals as well as gameplay features. In short, they’ve taken to tidying the overall storyline and pacing issues as well as refined the way the plot interacts with the open world nature of the game itself. If you like sandbox FPS action, definitely check this title out.

LittleBigPlanet 3

LittleBigPlanet 3
Last but not least we have “LittleBigPlanet 3”, which is the third installment in the series which has gone on to become a Sony institution in and of itself. This entry will further update the series and add all sorts of new features and content as well as even more user-generated content and opportunities for interaction. Expect this to be one of the hottest Sony exclusives this holiday season.
