New Expansion Leak in Destiny

Gather ‘round Guardians! It’s time to take a quick look at what’s going on in Destiny right now. If you’re unfamiliar with this MMO first-person-shooter hit, I would strongly recommend picking it up. Don’t be intimidated by the fact that there have been three expansions already (with a fourth to come). I only started playing it last December, but since then, have become a passionate fan. There’s so much to learn, and so much to discover and enjoy, that I’d put it at the top of my list of recommendations.

Anywho, on to what’s new.

Just last week there was a promotional poster leaked through Reddit for the next expansion to Destiny: Rise of Iron. The poster displays a heroic Lord Saladin, master of the monthly Iron Banner PvP event. Saladin is shown wielding a hefty warhammer or axe, glowing with fiery light, while standing in front of a broken wall, in a snowstorm, surrounded by a pack of his wolf friends. If that doesn’t scream badass, I’m not sure what does.

It’s not yet clear whether there will be any updates or changes coming to the Iron Banner as well, but it’s definitely not out of the question. There will no doubt be a storyline of missions to follow, and I’m sure we will also see a raise in light level from the current 335 to at least 350. Maybe some missions will tie in to the Iron Banner, or a new gameplay mode will be introduced.

Word has it that Destiny 2, which was originally scheduled to be released this year, will be pushed back to 2017 in lieu of Rise of Iron. We should expect to see the expansion coming in by this fall, and have June to look forward to for hopefully a second peak of Rise of Iron at E3.

Personally, I could not be happier about this news. Destiny has only gotten better after each expansion, and I have faith that trend will continue. See you at the Tower, Guardians!
