Sony’s 2017 E3 Event: The Best Bits

Sony does E3 in style, it’s a tradition we PlayStation fans are all familiar with. This yearly event never fails to impress. Of course, this year wasn’t about new hardware announcements, that was Microsoft’s event – Sony were able to pump out a variety of exciting games and updates that didn’t fail to impress. As PS VR continues to evolve as the go-to virtual gaming experience, Sony also had this to contend with.  Without further ado, let’s now progress by taking a look over some of the best games to feature at this year’s PlayStation E3 event.

Star Child

First up in the line of new games for the PS VR, is the title that I think will be a huge hit, Star Child. The graphics for this game are some of the best I have seen in quite some time. All in all, it was a far better offering than what I had been expecting. I look forward to seeing Star Child release later this year and hope it will live up to the expectations that many has stamped down for it.

Shadow of the Colossus

Remakes don’t always grab the limelight, but this one sure did. Released back in 2005 on the PS2, followed by a remastered version is 2011 for the PS3, Shadow of the Colossus will once again be re-made for the PS4. Get ready for a return to the amazing action-adventure gameplay that this title has previously offered, except you’ll be able to enjoy it like never before. Shadow of the Colossus is expected to land sometime in 2018.

Hidden Agenda

Uncharted: Lost Legacy

There is no franchise that does action-adventure this well, it really is that good. We thought it was all over with Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, it had many fans shed a tear. However, Sony is allowing the series to continue, just without the main star: Nathan Drake. This time around, Chloe Frazer will pair with Nadine Ross. This year’s E3 has enabled us to see a little more, such as the lush locations. I am very hyped for this game and can’t wait to learn more soon. Uncharted Lost Legacy is expected to release this August – are you ready for this new action-adventure? We are.

Horizon Zero Dawn: Frozen Wilds DLC

If you are a fan of Horizon Zero Dawn, then you will be excited to know that there is an expansion called Frozen Wilds that will be coming out. I saw the trailer for this and could not believe my eyes as it seemed that they had been taking a lot of the feedback that fans were giving them and really applied it to this upcoming DLC. When it comes out later this year, it will be a sure fire hit and will be on the top of every gamers list. Even if you have never played the game franchise, you will feel right at home with this game and will quickly become addicted, especially with this DLC.

Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy

Days Gone

Any gamer who loves to take on an army of zombies is sure to be excited about Days Gone. This survival horror set within an open-world environment. It has all of the necessary elements to becoming a leader within this genre. The trailer revealed that zombies aren’t the only problem awaiting in the shadows, but other humans too. Vehicles will feature as the trailer showed a character riding a bike, at full speed, down a dark forest dirt-track. The character then comes across an enemy base camp, he attracts attention by setting what appears to be a beartrap, then throws a rock, one of the enemies then walks over and falls victim to the trap. All of this brings much attention, and the character is able to move on without issue. In the final scenes, it seems as though using strategy is a key element to gameplay, thinking smartly – you’ll also want to be aware of the wild animals that roam that land, such as giant killer bears.

God of War (2018)

The new God of War is a title that I am just waiting to hit shelves. I have seen a number of the trailers for this game and all in all I think it is one of the best games to come from the Sony E3 announcement. I have been a huge fan of God of War and this game does not look like it is going to disappoint as it has a lot of the elements that you would expect from this game with a lot of new elements that will surprise the player. I will let you discover these elements on your own as they will be well worth the discovery.

The Persistence

Detroit: Become Human

Sony weren’t afraid to give us a few more details surrounding this upcoming gem. The narrative will evolve depending on choices that the player makes. It brings to the table an interesting futuristic scenario – Androids vs. Humans. However, Marcus, an Android featured in the trailer, has managed to develop self-awareness and is no longer happy to comply with his task set by his creator; humans. The trailer then shows Marcus break into a location where other Androids are kept, he then enables them, informing them about the situation they are facing. From here, the chaos begins and your decision making quickly takes you on a journey that no other game will provide. This title appears to have brilliant visuals and a unique setting – Detroit.  We cannot wait to check this one out.

Matterfall

Spider-Man

The last title that I want to discuss is the new Spider-Man game. This has been talked about for some time and Sony almost allowed people to think that the game was not going to happen as it was one of the last announced games to come out. I guess Sony had the approach, you save the best for last. Getting back to the Spider-Man, you will discover that this is a game that while in development as long as a DC movie, it was well worth all of the time it took. The trailer showed Spider-Man taking down enemies using his special powers, yet it was the graphics and actions that were very impressive. The action-packed gameplay was thrilling as Spider-Man chased a helicopter through the city, swinging across skyscrapers. It will be a blockbuster hit for Sony, especially being timed with the release of the latest Marvel offering later this month. It appeared to show amazing visuals with a GTA-like setting. Excited? One word – Yes.

With Microsoft’s announcement of their new console, it was down to Sony to counter by providing many new games for fans to get excited about. Simply put, Sony delivered on this promise, not just showcasing already-known titles, but new ones too. The one hour slot wasn’t long enough to feature the likes of GT Sport and The Last of Us 2 – that’s just how much was on offer. Great times wait for all of those involved with the PlayStation brand.

Which announcements and games are you most excited about? Be sure to leave your suggestions down below in the comments.

Great event, Sony just about scraped it I’d say. Microsoft and Nintendo were also fairly impressive, but just look at the stacking amount of exclusives coming to the PS4, no other console rivals it! WOW! Well done Sony!
