How To Connect the PS4 with a Laptop

There are a couple of reasons why a person would want or even need to connect their PS4 to a laptop. The first reason is so that they can share their music or videos from their device via a wireless network. The other is to provide you a screen that you can use for your game if your TV is not available. The connection to your laptop for these two reasons will require you to connect via two different methods, we will look at and walk you through both of these methods to get you connected in no time at all. For a simple solution, you’ll probably want to go the route of Remote Play. However, this guide takes a different approach. Read on.

There are a few things that you will need to make sure that you have before you begin this process. These should not be a problem for you to acquire and in a lot of cases you will more than likely have already.

Make sure that for file sharing you have a laptop that is equipped with wi-fi, you will need to have Ethernet cables as well as a USB cable and a video capture card for the process. The first thing you will need to do for file sharing is to go to settings in the PS4 menu. You will be looking for network settings. Next go to internet connection settings and you will need to locate your particular router, select it and input your password if you are asked for it. Once you have managed to get connected, you should see something that say enabled by the Internet connection.

If you don’t have a wireless connection, you will need to make sure that you use the alternative method for getting connected. Make sure that you connect the PS4 console as well as the computer both to the router using the Ethernet cables I mentioned earlier in this article. This will work just as well as if you were connected via the wireless network. Once you are connected, you can swap between the two devices and put your music on the PS4 and vise versa. The next method will be for actually playing your PS4 on your laptops monitor.

Some people will think that you can simply connect a HDMI cable to the laptop and be good to go, the truth of the matter is that this is simply not the case, you see the the issue is that HDMI is not a two way connection, it is only one way and therefore you will not get the results you are expecting. This is why you need the video capture card as it will be the easiest and best way to connect to your laptop.

The first thing that you need to do is to purchase an external video capture card that will be connected to your laptop. This will make a simple connection to your laptop via the USB port on your computer. This should include a composite as well as an S-video connection. Be sure that you install the software that comes with the card so that it will function properly.

After you have accomplished this, you are almost done, as you will then need to make sure that you connect the console to the video capture card. This can easily be done using the S-video cable that came with your PS4. Once you have done this, then it is a simple matter of opening the application and turning on your PS4 so that it will be seen by the application. The last step is to make sure the application is in full screen by clicking on the full screen button.

These steps will help to ensure that you can share your pictures and videos between your PS4 and your Laptop with ease. Unlike what many people will feel about this subject, with a little time and some basic items that most people will have already and even if they don’t they can easily buy these for a little money. You can connect your PS4 even when you are away from your home to your laptop and still play your favorite titles, and beat your friends in head to head competition.
