The PS4 Games That Need To Be Announced At E3 2015

Yes, it’s that magical time of year again. After the Christmas rush of new games and before the summer drought, we’ve got E3 to keep us excited about what’s to come for the next year. Of course, like every year, we don’t really know what’s going to get announced until, well, it gets announced, so we’re left to our own devices to speculate on what we’d like to see, what we think we’ll see, and what we really wish actually existed (Grand Theft Auto: Space. Just leaving that one there). Fortunately for you guys, we’ve compiled a little list of what we hope is going to get announced this year, and, thankfully, most of it has been backed up by some real evidence.

Fallout 4

  • Fallout 4

Bethesda quite simply knows what they’re doing. Between Dishonored, The Elder Scrolls series, and Fallout, it’s safe to say that a game with Bethesda’s blessing is sure to please. However, due to some leaks and a business with a fake website, there’s one entry on that list that we’re all hungry to see at E3 2015; Fallout 4. From the few sources we were able to confirm, we did learn a few things already about the new Wasteland already; it’s going to take place in the Massachusetts Commonwealth, and we’re speculating that it’s going to have something to do with our old enemies, The Enclave.

The timing on this one is actually pretty good; Bethesda has, for the first time in their history, scheduled a private E3 conference, and they wouldn’t do that unless they had something good to show us. We’ve been patiently waiting for almost five years, and there was no reason for us to think the franchise was done. Heck, it’s the future, and it can be done when we’re tired of it. If the Internet is to be believed, we still have a lot of stories in the Wasteland that need tying up, and it’s going to take more than just DLC packs to wrap everything up.

  • Assassin’s Creed: Victory

Speaking of stories that haven’t been wrapped up yet, the centuries-long battle between the Assassins and Templars in Assassin’s Creed is still going strong. Unlike Fallout 4, we’ve got some solid information that this latest Assassin’s Creed exists, including a (now pulled) trailer of gameplay that points to Victorian England as the setting, and a few new assassin’s tools to keep the gameplay fresh.

This one might be a little premature; after all, Unity and Rogue only came out in November of last year and their DLC still has its new-game smell to it. Of course, Ubisoft might be trying to be ambitious after Unity’s mixed reviews and quickly steamroll into the next, more refined game. While we want to see it, it might be a little too early to design our own steampunk Assassin, at least at this point. Expect a more fleshed-out trailer at E3, but know that a full game is already in the works.

  • Mass Effect 4

Regardless of how you felt about the ending of Bioware’s award-winning space opera, the Mass Effect trilogy was incredibly successful. Great story, great mechanics, and incredibly…um, detailed discussions on the Internet about the best romantic partners you can have throughout the series made Mass Effect a pretty solid fixture in most gamers’ game chests.

Outside of confirmation that the game is in the works (via a now-private Linkedin page from an alleged developer), we as the general public don’t know much about the project. If it exists, we can expect an entirely new storyline, possibly a new main character, and because these franchises are fond of trilogies, we can (fingers crossed) expect Mass Effect 5 and 6 in the future to continue the new story.

  • Persona 5

We know that the next game in the cult-favorite Shin Megami Tensei series is coming, and that it’s not just going to be a spin-off like Persona 4 Arena and Persona Q, but a new entry in the series, Persona 5. Atlus hasn’t let us down yet with this half-high school, half-dungeon crawler franchise, and if the trailer is to be believed, they’re not going to start now. We’ve got a new protagonist, a new school, and a new unknown enemy, all of which has a distinctly costumed-vigilante vibe. If they do announce this latest installment (and we’re pretty confident they will), it’s a safe bet that it’s going to be a PS4 exclusive.

  • Mirror’s Edge 2

Fans of parkour know that Mirror’s Edge, one of the original launch titles for the Xbox 360 showed exactly what the new hardware can do, and gamers everywhere quickly fell in love with the story, the mechanics, and the unique art style that made it such a success. Over a year ago, however, we were treated to another surprise; some footage pointing to a new Mirror’s Edge, complete with updated visuals, more visceral combat, and a final card that says “Coming… When it’s ready”. While story details are a bit vague, we know that it’s going to focus on Faith’s early days as a Runner. We only hope that when it does come out, we can still wire it up to an Oculus Rift or Morpheus headset and see the world through the eyes of a professional freerunner once again on a brand new generation of consoles.

Once again, this is all just speculation at this point; we won’t really know what’s going to go down until E3 finally happens. However, these are the games that are currently generating a lot of buzz on the internet and could believably happen this year, so we’re pretty confident that we’re gonna see all five of these popular titles on the stage in June.
