The Best PS4 Games For June 2023

It’s still a great time to be a PS4 gamer. With plenty of releases still hitting last-gen consoles, if you still haven’t managed to secure yourself a PS5, then you don’t need to miss out on some of the biggest games around (although it’s now much easier to pick up a PS5, so if you can stretch to it financially, we’d still recommend doing so). June 2023 sees yet another slate of great games headed to the PS4, so grab your DualShock 4 and let’s take a look at some of the best PS4 games headed your way this month.

Killer Frequency (June 1st)

Have you ever wanted to know what life was like as a 1980s radio host? Well, thanks to Killer Frequency, you won’t have to wonder for much longer. This horror comedy adventure casts you as Forrest Nash, a big-city radio DJ who’s broadcasting live from Gallows Creek. Having fallen from grace, Nash is forced to take up a position in this tiny, go-nowhere town, but he’ll quickly realise that it’s a much more eventful place than he’d bargained for…and lives are on the line.

We Love Katamari Reroll + Royal Reverie (June 2nd)

If you’ve got nostalgia for the PS2 era, then June is a good month for you as a PS4 owner. We Love Katamari Reroll + Royal Reverie is the first of two PS2-era remakes that are headed to Sony’s last-gen console this month, and it’ll give you the chance to indulge in a few more hours of delightfully whirligig fun. If you’ve never played a Katamari game before, this is a solid place to start, and the Royal Reverie add-on will give you more challenges to tackle once you’re through with the main campaign.

Street Fighter 6 (June 2nd)

Don’t let the somewhat intimidating PS5-only tag on Street Fighter 6’s PlayStation Store page fool you; this game is also heading to PS4, so if you’re excited to check out the latest iteration of Capcom’s legendary fighting franchise, you don’t need to shell out for a current-gen console to do so. Street Fighter 6 marks the return of some of gaming’s most iconic characters, including Ryu, Ken, Dhalsim, and Chun-Li, and they’ll take on newcomers and old hands alike in a fluid and technical fighting engine.

Loop8: Summer of Gods (June 6th)

In this wistful, melancholy coming-of-age JRPG, you are Nini, a young man blessed with a connection to the gods. You must use this connection to investigate the Kegai, a horde of monsters that are threatening to overwhelm the sleepy town of Ashihara and threaten the world from there. To combat them, you must build relationships with your compatriots, which will affect their performance in combat as well as the strength of certain enemies. If you like Persona and classic anime, you’ll love this.

Diablo 4 (June 6th)

If you’re a Diablo fan, you’ve had to weather some storms recently. From the botched launch and execution of Diablo Immortal through to what seems like an endless wait for Diablo 4, it’s easy to believe that Blizzard won’t pull through for this fourth instalment, but everything we’ve seen in the pre-release buzz has been promising. A darker aesthetic, lots of monsters to slaughter, and an extensive endgame are just some of the things you’ve got to look forward to in Diablo 4.

Goodbye Volcano High (June 15th)

Developer KO_OP describes Goodbye Volcano High as a “cinematic narrative adventure about love, change, and the end of an era”. Featuring voice acting from The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina’s Lachlan Watson, Goodbye Volcano High casts you as Fang, a young dinosaur who’s navigating the tumultuous world of adolescence. They’re also facing down an impending apocalyptic scenario, which just makes their attempt to build relationships and understand their own emotions even more difficult.

Aliens: Dark Descent (June 20th)

A real-time tactics game based on the Aliens universe? Sign us up! Aliens: Dark Descent comes to us from Battlefleet Gothic: Armada developer Tindalos Interactive, a studio that has experience creating deep, strategic games that are still accessible to those who only dabble in the genre. Dark Descent promises to be just that, giving you the chance to lead a squad of hardened marines into hives crawling with Xenomorphs and trying to avoid that all-consuming “game over, man, game over”.

Crash Team Rumble (June 20th)

We’re very glad indeed that Activision hasn’t forgotten the Crash franchise, as it’s part of some of our fondest childhood memories. Crash Team Rumble is exactly the kind of thing we’d have loved playing as kids, and we’re still looking forward to getting our hands on it as adults. It’s a competitive multiplayer platformer in which teams of heroes and villains must compete against one another to bank the most Wumpa fruit while also trying to stop the other team from scoring.

Destroy All Humans! 2 Reprobed – Single Player Edition (June 27th)

If you’re a PS4 owner, then you missed out on this solid remake of the 2006 alien-’em-up Destroy All Humans! 2, since it only landed on PS5 at the time. Now, however, Black Forest and THQ are bringing a single-player campaign version of the game to PS4, so you can experience Crypto’s latest journey on your console. It’s more of the same madcap alien sandbox fun, with more action, stealth, and pop-culture parodies than you can shake a probe at.
