5 Upcoming PS4 Games That Look Awesome

Though it’s been difficult to declare a winner during the awkward early stages of a new console generation, so far this year, the clear front-runner was Sony and its flagship gaming machine; the PlayStation 4.

Here are a few of the titles we’re most excited to see debut on the PS4…

Horizon

Horizon PS4

From the makers of the Killzone franchise comes an all new IP, which puts you in the boots of what looks to be a futuristic huntress, hellbent on collecting green goo from machine monsters that graze freely on the post-post-apocalyptic fauna which have grown in humanity’s long absence.

Yeah, we don’t know what’s going on either, but its still looks awesome.

From the few details we could glean during the keynote, it looks as though this will be a weapon-heavy third-person action title, which will feature dynamic enemies to fight that drop tools you can use to spice up each individual battle on the fly.

Other than that, hard data is still scarce. That said, if Killzone’s pedigree is anything to go by, this game is still sure to be a winner.

Ratchet and Clank

Ratchet and Clank ps4

Was that a game, or a clip from the new Pixar movie? If you guessed both, then you’re half right.

Based off the new children’s movie that’s debuting in April of next year, that’s based off the game which released nearly 15 years ago on the PS2, the new version of this classic title is being “re-imagined” for a whole new console generation.

FIlled with all the same levels, guns, and enemies you remember from the original, this version of Ratchet and Clank ramps the visual eye-candy up to eleven, and provides one of the first truly “next-gen” titles we’ve seen on the system yet.

The Last Guardian

From the same developers of the PS2 masterpiece Shadow of the Colossus and its follow up ICO, comes the game that everyone thought was dead, but really turned out to just be taking a long between-console nap.

Though we don’t know much about the title yet, the few minutes of footage we got at the Sony conference tells us that this will be another “buddy system” puzzler in the same vein as its predecessor.

You take control of a small boy who’s paired up with a hybrid monster that’s part dog, part bird, and probably a little lizard in there too. There may not be much information out yet about what we can expect, but if the studio’s previous two outings are any indication, this should quickly become another classic in the PS4 library.

Final Fantasy VII Remake

Final Fantasy VII

We haven’t seen anything beyond a cutscene teaser trailer for the huge surprise that Sony dropped at the end of its conference, but do we really need to?

It’s a full redux of Final Fantasy VII, with PS4 graphics, being released in 2016.

Need we say more?

No Man’s Sky

No Man’s Sky

No Man’s Sky is a game that took everyone by surprise when it first debuted at E3 last year, and has been on the tip of every gaming journalist’s tongue ever since.

The game has a lot of promises to live up to, and we’ve seen just how wrong things can go when a title comes bearing so many supposed gifts at one time *cough* Spore *cough*.

Even so, the mechanics look solid, and if enough people pick up a controller it’s only a matter of time before many of the worlds inherent to the game’s design are quickly discovered, inhabited, and scrapped for precious, precious minerals.

Though the arrival of worthy exclusive titles on the PS4 may have been slow going during the earliest days of its inception, if the release schedule we can expect over the next few months is any indication, this could shape up to be the best year for the system yet.
