Nyko Modular Charge Kit

Nyko Modular Charge Kit - PlayStation 4

At first the idea of purchasing another charging station / kit for your DualShock 4 controller(s) might seem to be a bit overdone, but that’s just until you discover how awesome the upcoming Nyko Modular version is, of course.  In short, this unit actually attaches to the side section of the PS4 itself, extending it with another panel that basically looks identical to the console but with one key difference – it is actually a charging station / clean up brush.  …wait, what?!  That’s right; this very handy add-on basically makes cleaning up your PS4 as well as keeping your control devices charged up a complete breeze.  Moreover, it also manages to add these functionalities while also maintaining the overall look of the machine, nothing being added which might create a visual clue of any kind whatsoever.

Turtle Beach tends to make some pretty great aftermarket stuff for various video game consoles, of that there can be no question.  As such, they’ve been promising to bring a wireless headset to market for the PS4 that’s comparable to some of the great wired models they already sell – in short, that’s exactly what the Ear Force Stealth 400 Premium headset represents.  Boasting absolutely no interference problems, digital game / chat controls, the ability to create and store 4 separate EQ presets, no less than 15 hours of battery, and of course, Acoustically angled 50mm Neodymium speakers, this is a headset that’s made to improve your overall gaming experience.  At the same time, it also happens to possess some decent looks to, meaning that it won’t look at all out of place when perched next to your console.

HORI Racing Wheel 4

HORI Racing Wheel 4

Yet another exciting product from HORI, the Racing Wheel 4 is actually licensed by SCEA (Sony Computer Entertainment America) and remains compatible with the PS4 as well as the PS3.  When engaged in “steering mode”, this produce will offer a truly immersive driving experience like no other, allowing you to take control over your virtual vehicles in ever-increasingly realistic ways with a host of other features added to sweeten the deal.  Specific add-ons and functions include: vibration feedback, paddle shifters, programmable buttons, rubber grips and improved foot pedals (increased sturdiness and ease of use in terms of detail-oriented driving).  Even better, it’s currently set to be sold at MSRP for less than $80, which also makes it an incredible deal of sorts to boot.

PlayStation DualShock 4 wireless controller in glacier white, camouflage or wave blue

PlayStation 4 Dualshock 4 Wireless Controller (Urban Camouflage)
Sometimes it’s not necessarily the goodies and features that attract you to something, but its looks alone.  Case in point, controllers: specifically speaking – the DualShock 4, Sony’s best control surface to date.  In short these OEM, fully-licensed, original Sony brand controllers are in fact the real deal (not an aftermarket recreation) and they feature some distinctive paint jobs along with all the expected components found on the previously released model.  Naturally, there are three new colors headed your way, including: Glacier White, Camouflage, and Wave Blue…

The VR headset (aka “Project Morpheus”)

The VR headset (aka “Project Morpheus”)
Lastly, we come to the mysterious and now seemingly legendary “Project Morpheus” that Sony has put together.  Basically, it is an attempt to create a better VR headset than the Oculus Rift folks, and that’s ok.  As a corporation, Sony is known for going the extra mile and really sticking to an idea for years and decades if necessary to bring gamers something useful that they’ll love.  In other words, anything that Sony creates that is carrying a VR moniker is sure to be excellent and offer an amazing gameplay experience.  The main roadblock comes down to developers though, for if they don’t move to jump on the new technology and create games that utilize it then the entire point will be moot.  However, assuming that one or more dynamite development studios do decide to take the VR project the next level then expect it to become the hottest modern console accessory to come around since the first Nintendo controller was invented.
