The PS4 is famous for a lot of things, including the amazing titles it has to offer. When it comes to Sony’s PS4 console, you get all type of games including platformers that basically revolve around platforms with different tasks to complete.

Such games are extremely popular and have a huge fan base, which is why you will find dozens of platformer games on the market. In this article we are going to have a look at some of the best PS4 platformer games. Let’s begin.

Trine 2: Complete Story

Some games simply leave us mesmerized due to their art style and creativity. Trine 2 is one of those, and it will take you into the world of Amadeus the Wizard, Pontius the Knight, and Zoya the Thief who need to eliminate a leaking evil that’s growing in the Enchanted Forest. It is the mysterious Trine who summoned them to complete this mission to save the forest from a wildlife inbalance. You will enjoy the game as a single-player, but playing it with friends takes it to a new level.

Shantae: Half-Genie Hero

Whether you are familiar with this franchise or not, you’ll probably get hooked. This game will wake you up in a body of playful Shantae, Half-Genie, and you’ll be warned that something evil is coming. Then you get to wander through small Scuttle Town and help your Uncle to develop a dynamo. However, its parts are scattered in different locales, and you get to explore them while enjoying the catchy soundtrack.

Sonic Mania

We can’t skip this iconic mascot that went through a tornado of changes, and sadly, many of those were simply mediocre. This one goes back to its roots and what made it so addictive. Sonic Mania is a fast side-scrolling action that has that ’90s mojo, while still feeling fresh and updated. No matter if you’re a veteran or meeting Sonic for the first time, you’ll love these twists, retro vibes, and the playfulness.

Little Nightmares

If you prefer being properly scared and feeling some chills, you should try out this side-scrolling platformer that takes you to a watery prison. The game follows a little girl named Six, who somehow ended up being trapped on The Maw, a vessel that craves damned souls. When we say craves, we really mean it. You might become someone’s next grotesque meal.

Dead Cells

Brutal design, twists and turns, and effective thrills. That’s the best way to briefly describe this game that follows a decapitated prisoner who was reanimated for some mysterious reason. Nevertheless, we are thankful that he was brought back because that allows experiencing all those insanely detailed levels. This game feels deeply rewarding, and with each step, you’ll uncover something new.

Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy

Fans of nostalgia are once again greeted with a remastered collection of the amazing first three games within the Crash Bandicoot series. Originally developed by game masterpiece creator Naughty Dog, we go back to the times of the early 1990s from where the series was born. The environments look beautiful and the game has been remastered especially well.

Gravity Rush 2

Sequel to Gravity Rush, this Japanese games has fans all around the world. The game mainly revolves around the player’s power to manipulate gravity. This results in some unique movements that allow the player to move ahead.

This is a great upgrade from the first game with players having the option to pick more gravity options. It takes place right where the first game ends, but your lead character has a lot more power now that makes this game a great one. With a score of 80 on Metacritic, it is one of the top rated platformer games on PS4.

Rive

This platformer-shooting game offers a unique concept which makes it a cool addition to the list. Released in 2016, Rive has a score of 75 on Metacritic, but with a huge following.

The gameplay is pretty unique that includes the player’s ability to try 360 degree shooting. It also has a nice scoring system that keeps you motivated to improve your game and come back to achieve a higher score.

Ratchet & Clank

Colourful and cheerful, two words to describe this vibrant platform game, developed by Insomniac Games. Based on the movie and remastered from the original Ratchet & Clank game, you can’t go wrong with this platformer. It has a variety of ingredients of which play a key role in the game’s core foundation, these include gameplay, visuals, weapons, world design, and controls.

Skylanders: Imaginators

This action 3D game on PS4 seems to be loved by one and all. This is a sequel to Skylanders: SuperCharger but with some major changes. The coolest feature is the player’s ability to create their own characters, known as Imaginators in the game world.

The game has a unique story where the lead character has to work against the evil army of Kaos to keep peace in Skylanders. This is done by fighting enemies, solving puzzles and platforming.

This is a unique mix of ideas that make it fun for children and adults alike. It’s also rated 81 on Metacritic, making it one of the highest rated platformer games.

Rain World

Released in 2017, Rain World is a survival platformer game that is extremely famous on Steam. One of the coolest things about this game is the player, called the Slugcat. It is part-cat and part-slug. The character is basically looking for a new home for its family.

You are put in a unique world trying to survive against enemies by using debris as weapon while looking for shelter and food.

The game took six years to make, but the results are for all to see. The graphics are amazing and the animations will leave you awestruck, however some players may find it a little too difficult.

Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty!

Abe brings an entire new platform adventure to the PS4 with Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty! Fans who are seeking a nostalgia reminder are sure to love to see the re-turn of this classic series. The visuals are impressive and the gameplay is fully impressive. Be sure to consider playing this PS4 exclusive platform game.

Rogue Legacy

Rogue Legacy is different from all other games on this list because it does not try to be different. The story here is simple and the game play as classic as it gets. This simplicity is Rogue Legacy’s biggest strength.

In this game you have to explore a dungeon that is randomly generated and has four evil bosses. You have to defeat all of them and then finally defeat the big boss to win the game. Your character can perform simple tasks such as jump and slash. In addition to this, the character also has some special powers that you will find out once you play the game.

With strong review scores, it is one of the most loved platformer games on PS4.

N++

This game is a sequel to N+ and is quite like its predecessor, but with better graphics. Gameplay is basic and consists of jumping, climbing, rebounding, and dodging from walls while collecting gold to give a boost to the amount of time you have to complete each level.

With a score of 84 on Metacritic, it is a well-rated game and is expected to have another sequel soon.

Trials Fusion

This platform racing game is perfect for those who have a competitive edge. Trials Fusion is the first game in the series to hit the PlayStation platform. From crazy and adrenalin pumping stunts to creating amazing courses using the track editor, this title is a great platform game that can be enjoyed online multiplayer races.

Rayman Legends

Fifth game in the Rayman series is definitely the best of the lot, and takes place right after its predecessor, Rayman Origins . It is one of the top platform games with record number of sales, which many people credit to the positive word of mouth as it started slow but eventually gained steam. It is also critically acclaimed with a score of 92 on Metacritic.

The game allows up to four players to simultaneously play. This feature makes the game very exciting as you can enjoy it with your friends and family.

Fez

This is a puzzle game with both 2D and 3D elements. With a score of 90 on Metacritic, it is one of the most well-known platformer games on PS4.

Originally released in 2012, the game was supposed to have a sequel that was later cancelled due to a Twitter controversy.

Get your hands on these games and enjoy as they offer you great graphics coupled with interesting gameplay.

Unravel

This isn’t your typical game, full stop. However, it is also a little surprising that Unravel is actually an EA asset – since the juggernaut company doesn’t typical delve into such a niche arena. With that said, they did a fabulous job in bringing a unique game, thanks to Coldwood Interactive, with a very loveable character. The environments are relaxing, natural and are impressive. The gameplay features puzzles that become more challenging as you progress. Unravel is a great platformer that you should enjoy.
