A Look at all of the PS4 games out next month (June, 2014)

June, 2014 is going to be a rather busy month for the video game industry, especially for the PlayStation 4 crowd.  Simply put, there’s a glut of confirmed (and impending yet potentially still unconfirmed) titles headed our way next month (or maybe even sooner), so without further ado, let’s take a look, shall we?

Murdered: Soul Suspect – June 3, 2014

Murdered Soul Suspect

Billing itself as a sort of action-adventure title, “Murdered: Soul Suspect” is actually more of an interactive and largely linear graphic novel of sorts.  It tells the story a murdered detective who sets out to bring his killer to justice – only this time, he’s doing it as a ghost.  It’s a graphically solid and mystery-imbued experience that’s sure to delight those who long for a darker kind of game.

EA Sports UFC – June 17, 2014

EA Sports UFC

This will be the first UFC licensed title out of the gate since THQ handed the franchise’s reigns over to EA, and for all intents and purposes it looks to be a rather impressive offering.  They’re using the Ignite engine to bring a more enhanced, realistic and intricate gameplay system to the forefront with this release, even including “body deformation” mechanics and more.

Valiant Hearts: The Great War – June 25, 2014

Valiant Hearts The Great War

Ubisoft Montpellier is bringing us a very intriguing puzzle game called “Valiant Hearts: The Great War” to market in late June.  Naturally, it centers around the historical Great War in Europe, a pair of star-crossed lovers and a father / chef who gets captured by the Germans.  Of course through it all, the game retains a rather charming, highly animated style that incorporates lots of interesting puzzles and seemingly non-standard gameplay.

RBI Baseball 14 – Q2 2014

RBI Baseball 14

If you’re a fan of sports video games and have any kind of “retro knowledge / vocabulary”, the RBI Baseball franchise should definitely ring a bell.  For many veteran gamers, the series epitomized solid and simplistic baseball gameplay and remains something of a classic.  In short, the series marches forward with RBI Baseball 14, which is both a testament to the established formula as well as a clear evolution for its developers.

The Witness – Q2 2014

The Witness

Perhaps one of the more interesting and potentially ground-breaking titles which will (supposedly) emerge in Q2 is Thekla, Inc.’s “The Witness”.  In short, this is both an exploration as well as a puzzle game that artfully melds the two concepts together in a very stylish manner without the use of violence.  Needless to say, it remains very intriguing-looking and is both comforting as well as mysterious in its character.

Ready to Run – Q2 2014

Ready to Run

What’s a lengthy monthly release report without one slightly off-kilter and unique driving title?  That’s basically what Ukraine-based developer Beatshapers’ “Ready to Run” is – a quirky RC racing game that said to offer both highly responsive controls as well as single city, futuristic locations.  There’s not much information currently available about it and it’s unclear whether or not they’ll hit their Q2 release timetable however.

Air Conflicts: Vietnam Ultimate Edition – Q2 2014

Air Conflicts Vietnam Ultimate Edition

Looking to improve upon Air Conflicts: Vietnam Ultimate Edition’s rather tepid initial outing, BitComposer Games has apparently taken the opinions and ideas to heart and injected them into the upcoming PS4 release of the game.  This means it will include a new campaign and improvements all around to the AI, controls, maps and more.

Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty – Q2 2014

Oddworld New 'n' Tasty

To make a long story short, this upcoming release from developer Just Add Water is basically a reboot / recreation of 1997’s Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee.  Of course this iteration features awesome graphics, effects, and various other additional features which clearly make it superior to its predecessor in every way.  Don’t worry though, the same core 2.5D-based perspective gameplay is intact and the title remains true to its side-scrolling roots.

The Golf Club – Q2 2014

The Golf Club

Perhaps seeking to build an entirely new and impressive golfing franchise from the ground up, HB Studios is bringing PS4 owners a more customizable and realistic athletic experience with “The Golf Club”.  Right away, many gamers will want to check it out simply because it utilizes procedural generation and allows users to easily create and share their own custom courses.  Assuming that they nail the core gameplay here, this might very well end up being a smashing success.

Guacamelee! Super Turbo Championship Edition – Q2 2014

Guacamelee! Super Turbo Championship Edition

Simply put, Guacamelee! Super Turbo Championship Edition is a rather exciting and colorful action platformer that’s appealing on multiple fronts.  While it’s certainly fun, it also incorporates various points of Mexican folklore into the mix, offering gamers a chance to learn something about that specific culture while fighting off baddies.  This expanded edition will elongate the main storyline and add various new features to the mix as well.

Pavilion – Q2 2014

Pavilion

Visiontrick Media’s “Pavillion” is a tough game to classify, perhaps that’s why they refer to it as a 4th person puzzler…  While it’s set to be an adventure title, it’s also heavily banking on the overall experience it provides, which is at times akin to manipulating a static painting.  At any rate, it’s offering just the sort of vague and wistful experience that many will probably love straight away.

Divekick – Q2 2014

Divekick
If you’re interested in a true “button masher” fighting game, look no further than “Divekick”.  Both a simple brawlers as well as a parody, the title itself refers to that old “jump and kick” technique from games past.  In short, there are only two buttons utilized, one to dive and the other to kick; we’ll let you figure out how this will play out on your own.

Titan Invasion – Q2 2014

Titan Invasion

Lastly, we have “Titan Invasion” which will encapsulate not one, but two games – “Titan Attacks!’ and “Revenge of the Titans”.  For those who might have missed both of these releases, this will be an excellent opportunity to pick them up at one low cost.
