The Joy of Playing Classic Board Games on PlayStation 4

You’d think that with all the modern gadgets and video game consoles out there in 2017, board games will be completely forgotten. However, it’s quite the opposite. Many are still buying the classic board games and have taken a step further to play them on PS4. Apparently, the highly technical game developers see the value of classic board games and have decided to create a version of these that today’s millennials can appreciate.

Playing Monopoly on PlayStation 4

This classic game that was created by Charles Darrow in 1935 is still one of Hasbro’s best-selling titles. This game can be played by two to eight players, with one player designated as the banker. The main goal of Monopoly is to buy enough real estate properties to take over the economy in the game and make the other players bankrupt.

For over eighty years, Monopoly has been enjoyed by players of all ages. In fact, now that video games have evolved, game developers have made it possible for the younger generations to play Monopoly on their Sony PlayStation consoles in three ways: My Monopoly, which lets you personalize the board game by changing the name of the properties and adding icons or pictures; Monopoly Plus which is set in 3D;  and Monopoly Deal, which is the card version of the game.

Monopoly is so popular that there are even online slot game versions of this board game. Lottoland’s Monopoly Bring the House Down is an online video slot with a total of five reels, four rows and 40 paylines where the biggest jackpot win is 250,000 coins.  Super Monopoly Money involves five reels, three rows and 25 paylines, and lets you earn reel cash and Monopoly Money so you can play bonuses. Monopoly Big Event has a total of five reels, three rows and 20 paylines with progressive multipliers, epic spins, plus locked wilds and scatters. You can use the Big Bet function to increase your chances of winning.

Trivial Pursuit Live! on PlayStation 4

It is no surprise that Time magazine called this board game, which was created by Chris Haney and Scott Abbott in 1979, “the biggest phenomenon in game history”, having sold 100 million copies in 35 years. Trivial Pursuit can be played by two to six players, with each having a circular playing piece containing six pie-shaped holes. The goal of this game is to collect a pie in each color, which allows the player to move along the spokes towards the middle of the board and win the game.

Now, the video game version of this classic board game comes with a modern look and more challenging questions. Players get to test their knowledge in a fast-paced television show setting. The game can be played by up to four players, both local and online.

It’s both ironic and amazing to see how much technology has changed the way we play and still manage to keep great classic board games alive and improved to allow the younger gamers to appreciate what their dads, moms, and grandparents have been enjoying during their childhood and even as adults.
