As debuts go, Street Fighter V had a bit of a stinker yesterday as the beta version of the title was taken offline almost instantly after landing. The PS4 exclusive game was due to drop in beta form yesterday and stick around for gamers to get their first taste of Street Fighter on 8th generation hardware. That hotly anticipated moment happened for sure, but it was quickly snatched away as the beta of Capcom’s newest game was quickly removed. We are now left wondering when the beta will make a comeback, while the possibility is very real that we will…

“Octodad: Dadliest Catch,” the 2014 sequel to the 2010 “Octodad” by Young Horses, Inc., has only further bolstered the fledgling series’ somewhat unexpected popularity. From an outside perspective on the indie series, the name alone alerts a sense of weirdness with the cephalopod/father mashup and humor with its clever pun. The whimsical word “Octodad” is just amusing to say and think about. And thanks to these games, even more easily imagined. So…why an octopus? Why Octodad, and “Dadliest Catch?” What is the creative motivation behind the nautical theme? Where did the unusual gameplay ideas stem from? With such originality and…

Sony is celebrating once again as the PlayStation 4 was the best-selling game console on the market through the month of June. The PS4 has enjoyed a lead over Microsoft’s Xbox One since launch and after dominating its rival for two years has pulled a huge lead in lifetime sales. Indeed, even this early in the 8th generation console war it is plain to see that the PlayStation 4 will win this generation. It is reminiscent of when the Wii pulled an early lead during the 7th generation and never looked back, although admittedly Sony’s unit will unlikely match Nintendo’s…

The PlayStation brand began wayback in 1995, and we’ve since seen loads of amazing games released. Here we take a look at a few classics which deserve a remake on the PS4… Crash Bandicoot With tricky puzzles, memorable bosses, and plenty of wild rides on the various inventive vehicles Crash has to take for a spin it should be no surprise that we would love to see a Crash Bandicoot reboot on PlayStation 4.  The cartoony style graphics might not max out the processing power of the machine but it could definitely be a beautiful game and a continuation…

In my video gaming experience, if you have a very easily-irritated dad in the room when you’re gaming, you can learn to live with little (to no) sound when playing a game. However, Rayman Legends by Ubisoft is one exception where sound up is simply mandatory. (Sorry Dad!) Now, you don’t necessarily need to have the volume deliberately up in this game to hear, for example, hidden things that emit sounds for clues or to forewarn of off-screen enemies. One requires the music and sound effects to be heard in order to fully immerse–and therefore fully enjoy–the gameplay experience with…

Sony is shaping to be a frontrunner in revolutionizing console gaming. With its initial announcement in 2014, many were skeptical about Sony having another go at creating virtual reality gaming experience. However, E3 2015 has many people believe that Sony may have the future of console gaming. Sony has made many strides to recover from the Glasstron, a virtual reality device that Sony produced in 1997. However, with Project Morpheus a year before launch, Sony is showing that they are serious contenders in making the Playstation 4 “the best place to play.” Often compared to the Oculus Rift, Project Morpheus…

Earlier this year VooFoo announced Pure Hold’em for the PS4. Whilst this poker game for our favourite console isn’t the first as such (Poker Night 2 anyone?), it’s arguably the best looking we’ve seen. Here are the main features of the game, due to be released soon: Full multiplayer support (e.g. play a private tournament with up to eight other players) Various play environments and customisable options (e.g. chips, table colour) Leaderboards to track your progress and compete with other players Play against real players or AI ones Pretty slick gameplay and graphics This game isn’t the first ‘Pure’ game…

SCEE president, Jim Ryan, today unveiled in an interview that the PS4 console currently has around 90% of European console market-share. He also added that the PS4 is achieving nothing under 70% of market-share within any European nation. Whilst this highlights the amazing success of Sony’s 8th gen offering, it also shows that Microsoft has failed to impress within the largest open-trading zone of the world. It’s true, the PS4 is currently the star of Europe, and yes, the pun was intended.

Whilst it might not be the PS4 Slim, it’s yet another step in the right direction.
