You’d think that Japanese consumers would get the PlayStation 4 first, right? After all, Sony is Japanese. Interestingly, the PlayStation 4 won’t be available in Japan until February 2014 (after the US and European launch). Using the internet to pre-order consoles is slowly becoming the norm in Japan. However, there are still many hardcore fans that prefer to take the traditional option. Pre-orders for the PS4 begin today in Japan, and you’ll already find a queue starting to form (4 months before release) at many of the gaming shops for those wanting to get their name down first. The Japanese…

Can’t find the right deal on a PS4? Everywhere out of stock? How about importing? This is a guide for Prospective importers for both UK and USA residents. What new possibilities will be opened to game developers with the PS4? Also, what innovations might we expect within future video games as a result? Much has already been written about the somewhat upgraded “approachability” of the PS4 where game production is concerned.  The common understanding here is that the PlayStation 4 is going to be a much more “friendly” platform for game developers to work with.  In other words, there seem to be far fewer barriers to surmount – starting from the point where you’re staring at a completely blank slate, moving through the final processes and eventually rolling…

Even though the PlayStation 4 is without a doubt one of the most powerful and fully-featured consoles to ever be released (up to this point), you are still probably going to need to add some peripheral devices to it.  Some add-ons will enhance your overall relationship with the console; while others might actually alter the way you play and approach playing games entirely.  Perhaps you just like to “trick out” your consoles, see just how far you can take things in order to create the ultimate gaming environment?  Whatever the reason, the PS4 already has a number of accessories available…

(Updated 05/10/2013) Perhaps one of the greatest things about the release of a new gaming console is that you can count on specific bundles to be made available for individual types of gamers.  Admit it, there’s something slightly magical about tearing open that packaging, laying your eyes on the device for the first time, and of course, loading up that initial game.  Even if you’re a fairly “well traveled” gamer, the satisfaction experienced when delving into that fancy new console on the first day of its release seems to conjure up the kind of giddiness you might have experienced as…

Will GTA V be released on PlayStation 4? If so, when? These are two questions that PS4 fans want desperately answering. Amazon Germany listed the game for pre-order earlier today; however, it was later taken down. Was this a simple mistake? Or was it a leak to take seriously? The game is clearly displayed within the PS4’s blue box, maybe this is a sign that GTA V will be heading for PS4 sooner than we anticipated.

By now you’ve undoubtedly seen some of the absolutely stellar and riveting gameplay footage from Ubisoft’s “Watch Dogs”.  Needless to say, it’s one of those games where it seems like there are endless opportunities awaiting us inside a massive and very realistic city.  Combining the more successful elements from several franchises, Watch Dogs might even end up being one of the initial mega-sellers which ends up further pushing PS4 sales higher (yes, the game actually looks that good).  At this point, one might even be inclined to remark that “Watch Dogs” is taking the basic GTA formula, turning it on…

Don’t feel bad, Microsoft had a good thing going and they basically “dropped the ball” with their Xbox ONE marketing strategy.  Don’t think of yourself as a deserter or turncoat though, brand loyalty is one thing, but when a company steps across the line and starts making consumers uncomfortable, well, maybe it IS time to jump ship.  In fact, the reasons to switch over to the PS4 and Sony from the Xbox 360 and MS are numerous. First off, you have the digital rights management policy stuff to think about, which is still an issue on PS4, although perhaps less…

While it would be easy to believe that only the absolute best ideas get turned into games (which in theory might go on to become big hits), the truth is, some of the most intriguing concepts never see the light of day. With each successive console (generation) there are plenty of specific examples of titles being “snuffed out” before their time, even with ample numbers of eager fans on board. The point is, you’ve probably already encountered this phenomenon already with a game that you had been waiting and hoping developers would be able to push into post-production. Often times…

It has been revealed that Sony is ready to enter the virtual reality gaming arena for the PlayStation 4. The headset was due to be showcased at Gamescom, however, it was decided that the headset should be unveiled sometime next year. It has been suggested that Oculus, the company behind the Oculus Rift, could be acquired by Sony. However, this seems unlikely as Sony are said to be ready to launch their own virtual reality headset. Oculus showed off their Rift HD headset at Gamescom. Sony already has the HMZ-T2 personal 3D viewer, which can be used for HD movies…

If there’s only one thing that could dampen all of the excitement surrounding next-gen gaming, then it would have to be the uncertainty about GTA V and the PlayStation 4. The uncertainty has left many asking, will GTA V feature on PS4? If so, when? It would be hard to imagine that GTA V wouldn’t release on the PlayStation 4 at some point. A recent tweet from Sony got plenty of attention, which said, “GTA V is going to be amazing, especially on the PS4!”. Sadly, the tweet was nothing more than a typo, according to Rockstar. Rockstar’s response, “Apologies…
