To make a long story short, Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag is perhaps one of the most refreshingly fun and addictive story-driven open-world titles out there…period.  Released as a multi-platform title, ACIV really shines on a next-gen console like the PS4 (with its luscious detail and added definition).  It’s also worth mentioning that there’s a fun and highly entertaining multiplayer mode on board as well, which should delight any serious gamer.  The point is – Black Flag is amazing, and you should definitely own it if you have a PS4. The Call of Duty series has certainly come a long way.  Activision and an assorted list of developers have worked hard to both expand and refine their FPS formula in order to open fans up to new possibilities.  In their latest effort, “Ghosts” we find an entirely new platform, if you will – sort of an amalgamation of the tropes developed by Modern Warfare and Black Ops, if you will. Needless to say, this game has a lot going for it; not only are there an incredible number of in-game features and multiplayer modes to keep you busy, there’s also…

The “Infamous” series has been a Sony PlayStation exclusive since its inception in 2009.  Featuring unique comic book-influenced action amid action / adventure settings in an open-world design, this franchise has definitely found its own niche’ to fill. Infamous: Second Son (which is to be a PS4 exclusive, btw) is the third successive game in the series and takes place no less than seven years after the events of Infamous 2 (if we’re talking about the good ending, anyway). Is Microsoft attempting to solve a problem which is already been solved by TV manufacturers? Facing many competing platforms, it would seem that console manufacturers really have to stay on their toes these days in order to remain viable. Not only do we have a slew of devices dropping onto markets every few months (think tablets, smartphones and PC’s), but there’s also a new outside threat – Smart TV’s. In fact, it could be argued that these new intelligent televisions are doubly dangerous, since they also tend to be used in tandem with gaming consoles. So, what’s the threat, you…

We don’t have Gran Turismo 6 for PS3 yet, however, it’s sequel could possibly land on PS4 later next year. The news came from Polyphony Digital CEO Kazunori Yamauchi. “We don’t want to take too long on Gran Turismo 7,” Kazunori told Top Gear. “Best-case scenario? Next year. In GT6 we really had to tune the software 100 percent to maximize the PS3’s architecture, but of course the PS4’s hardware is much better, so I think the overall quality of the game across the board will be boosted when you come to play it.”

Just your basic buyers’ guide for concerned parents (who are probably just as eager as their kids to try out Sony’s new flagship console) A lot has changed since the early days of video gaming, when the onscreen violence was blocky or highly animated, not realistic enough to merit much attention.  Today’s high-powered consoles (particularly the upcoming 8th generation) however, are capable of delivering the kinds of visuals that boggle the mind on large HD screens, making semi-realistic-looking encounters possible.  Naturally, this might concern some of the parents out there; especially those who haven’t even touch a controller in ages.…

There are a number of reasons why the push toward truly Next-Generation gaming occurred in 2013, each of them fitting together nicely like a jigsaw puzzle. For starters, we have to take the eagerness of your average gamer into consideration. Unless you have never been online or chatted with others via Xbox Live or the PSN, it’s fairly obvious that gamers are often a tough crowd to please. Even if you manage to release an awesome console or series of games, people will soon grow tired of the formula, pushing you to either adapt or commercially perish. For instance, the…

Being able to integrate motion-control that’s based on physical cues from players has always been a dream of game and console developers (not to mention, gamers).   In the past, relatively simple light-based mechanisms allowed us to do things like hunt ducks utilizing little more than our own aiming abilities, which was certainly a step forward from only being able to control the action onscreen with a joystick.  Subsequent developments saw even more intriguing devices being built for the early consoles, all of which turned out to be abysmal failures in one way or another. Fast-forward to era of the Wii,…

Today’s average Smart TV isn’t just a static machine that…

Whenever introduced to developer Ready at Dawn’s upcoming action-adventure title “The Order: 1886”, the first thing that strikes most people is the game’s setting and style.  In short, 1886 is a game that incorporates steam-punk visuals and Victorian-inspired clothing and architecture amidst modern weaponry and a slightly sci-fi backdrop.  The game itself is set in an alternate history of course, one in which a so-called “old order of knights” keeps the world same from monsters.  Of course much is still unknown with regards to this game’s development, and with its release date being unannounced and in 2014, anything could happen…
